Dr. Price is the recipient of the 2017 Alumni Award in Art History from the College of Arts & Architecture. He has established himself as an innovative, highly accomplished, and prolific curator of modern and contemporary art. After receiving a B.A. in Art History and French at Western Maryland College [now McDaniel College], Marshall earned an M.A. in Art History at Penn State in 1997, writing a thesis under the direction of Dr. George Mauner. He then became an Assistant Curator at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. After resettling in New York City, Marshall pursued a Ph.D. at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (completed 2011) and was Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Academy Museum in New York for over a decade (2003-2014). In March 2014, he was named the Nancy Hanks Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Price has curated over twenty exhibitions and has been a prolific and inspiring author, including Marshall N. Price, ed., A Material Legacy: The Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Collection of Contemporary Art (Duke University Press, 2016).
