2007-08 Requirements for the Ph.D. in Art History

Foriegn Language Requirements

Reading proficiency in two foreign languages is required. One of these languages must be German, and the other either French or Italian. For students who have received their master's degree from another university, a reading proficiency in two languages must be demonstrated before the end of one year of study. Foreign language requirements completed in other graduate programs will be honored if proof is provided (i.e., a letter from the former institution). A language examination administered within the department consists of a one-hour translation (with dictionary).
