Department Bus Trip Procedures and GuidelinesA month plus lead time is needed to plan a trip. Contact Deana Musso to find out the cost of the bus or vehicle (and how that will break down per person) and also to make the reservation once the trip has been approved. YOU must fill out the College of Arts and Architecture Academic Field Trip Checklist which is basically the approval form. (You can obtain this form from Deana.) This form must be approved by Dr. Zabel and then it also must go to the college financial officer. The bus company would like a commitment approximately two weeks in advance of the trip. If anyone is planning a trip please confer with your fellow faculty and see if there are others also interested in going to the same location. It is much better to have two or even three buses going once, then to have separate trips spread out over several weeks or months. Remember, only students, faculty, staff, or persons affiliated with Penn State are allowed to go on these trips. Anyone who is not a student must go to Deana Musso, 228 Arts Building, to pay for the trip. Students should be using the form which deducts the amount of the trip directly from their student accounts. Please remind everyone of the commitment they are making when they sign up to go. These trips must be paid for by participation so when people don't show and then want their money refunded it is very difficult and the form they sign does say, "your payment will not be refunded if you are unable to go on this trip." Also, risk management requires that we have someone in attendance with a cell phone that can be used in case of an emergency and this number must be listed on the above form. This number has to be available in case the emergency contact person in State College needs to contact someone who is on the trip, and of course, it is also necessary, if there is an emergency situation while on the trip. Contact Deana Musso if you have questions. |
