Education Ms. Muhlert is a specialist in museum studies and early twentieth-century American art. Before coming to Penn State in 1996, she was director of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas (1980-95); director of the University of Iowa Museum of Art in Iowa City (1975-79); associate (1974-75) and assistant (1968-73) curator of twentieth-century painting and sculpture at the National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institutuion, Washington, D.C.; rotating exhibition program advisor for the White House in Washington, D.C. (1968-72); and assistant curator at the Allen Memorial Art Museum in Oberlin, Ohio (1966-68). She is a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors (1975-95, 1999-present). |
